Coach Shane Calvert joins Grove United bringing years of college coaching and director of coaching experience to Grove United!


Coach Calvert was the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at NCAA Division II Lees-McRae College, becoming the 10th head coach in the program’s history. Shane’s collegiate coaching experiences also include stops at Wofford College (2015-2017), Clemson University (2014-2015) and his alma mater Tusculum University (2005-2007).


Career highlights include helping coach Clemson to the 2014 ACC Championship and to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament and helping coach Tusculum reach No. 1 in the NCAA Division II national rankings during his time with the team a few years prior.


"We are very excited to bring someone of Coach Calvert's caliber into the Grove United coaching staff. Coach Calvert has worked in some of the the top college environments in the country. He has helped developed national championship winning teams and helped push players on to the pro level. His first-hand experience working with elite players will be crucial in developing and guiding our players to the next level. Coach Calvert has a winning mentality and shares our vision for elite player development," says Grove United president, Justin Grove


In addition to his vast college coaching experience, Coach Calvert has been heavily involved in youth development, coaching in several clubs across the country. He was most recently the Executive Director of Cook Inlet SC where he oversaw all aspects of the club.

Coach Calvert’s qualifications include USSF C License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, and National Goalkeeping License

Coach Bo brings an international coaching background and a wealth of knowledge and experience to Grove United. With over 25 years of coaching experience, Coach Bo has become a seasoned and respected coach around the world. He has spent the last 14 years building football infrastructure, coaching teams, developing football academies, and training local coaches in several nations across Southern Asia. Coach Bo currently holds a USSF C license and brings his Dutch coaching and development philosophy Grove United.


"I hope to not only train championship winning football teams but to also develop successful players who become influencers of positive change within their communities," said Coach Bo Renes.


His passion for the game of football started at a young age in his home country of The Netherlands where he debuted for his club’s senior team at the age of 14. His football journey as a player took him to other areas of Europe and the world including Germany, France, Asia, and the USA.


“Coach Bo has a unique ability to connect with players and build high-level teams. His international experience developing players will bring another dimension to the Grove United player pathway and further enhance our mission to offer the best developmental environment for those wanting to learn and play at the next level, both here and abroad,” states Grove United President, Justin Grove.


Coach Bo is also a proud father of four and proud grandfather of two amazing girls.

Grove United Launches the Future Stars Development Program for ages U7-U10! The

Grove United Future Stars will compete in the Youth Premier Soccer League (YPSL).

The Future Stars Development Program is a fun-filled development program for players aged U7-U10 focused on developing young players' individual technique and inspiring a passion for the game. The program features a developmentally appropriate curriculum in weekly training sessions featuring technical training, competitions, agility & coordination training and small-sided games to develop Future Stars! The Future Stars is created for all skill levels. We provide a developmentally appropriate environment for any player who wants to improve. Grove United is in partnership with ACGK Goalkeeping Academy to develop both field players and goalkeepers in the Future Stars program.


Throughout the year, the future stars will compete in several different match formats including YPSL matches, in-house matches, indoor matches, and crossover games vs. other clubs. The YPSL is a grassroots soccer league  that works with its member clubs in the development of their young athletes, and Grove United Future Stars will play matches against other Virginia YPSL teams through matches and match-day festivals.

Members can sign up for the year or for the season.
